Grants
The
Foundation had an endowment of approximately $6 million as
of 2005. Grants ranging from several thousand to several hundred
thousand dollars have been approved over the years.
Grant
Information
The
Foundation has two grant categories with differing requirements:
1.
General Grants
Applications are accepted once a year for the following year.
Applications for 2009 funds can be submitted at any time until June
15, 2008 which is the last day on which applications for 2009
will be accepted. Final decisions are made in December with notification
by mail.
2. Chair/Executive Director Discretionary Fund
Each
year, the Chair and the Executive Director may make small, health-related grants. In
the past, the Discretionary Fund has been used, among other
things, for health fairs, to provide breathing machines to
asthmatics and supplies to congregational nurses, to contribute
to radio programs on health issues, to support immunization
initiatives.
Applications
will be accepted at any time and decisions will be made within
a month of receipt.
Grants
will range in size between $500 and several thousand dollars.

Requirements for General Grants

All applications and required documentation must be received by June 15 of each calendar year.
Additional Information About Applications
- We favor grants from the five-county bi-state area.
- We do not support capital campaigns.
- We favor grants for community-based organizations.
- We believe in short-term investment and will only renew grants for three consecutive years or less.
- We favor the innovative and the new.
- All grants will be announced in December following the June deadline and will be paid out in January of the following year.
